However, a new pic exhibition challenge the public perception of MS, and helped place the disease in focus. Thus, this exhibition is intended to encourage people with MS symptoms to seek primeval diagnosis and treatment.

The exhibition, called “The Image of MS,” photographed by renowned photographer Joyce Tenneson and recently exhibited in New York City’s Grand Central Terminal. According to Tenneson, 27 photographs that capture “the grace and courage in the regular existence of people with MS.”

MS symptoms vary from mortal to mortal and can include fatigue, vision problems, weakness, numbness, tingling, stiff, dizziness, loss of bladder control and slurred speech.

Among the 27 participants was Cindy Heitmann, 48, who came from Buffalo, NY, which is more than a decade ago was diagnosed with MS after awakening one morning unable to move. Suddenly, a nurse of 20 years also became a patient. It took months of tests before physicians finally healthy to diagnose her with MS.

Heitmann said, is now traveling the country with MS to encourage others to take control of their lives: “When someone looks at me, I want them to see me as a mother, a wife, as a nurse, as someone who is positive and supportive and active. I do not want MS to stop me from doing anything. ”

“MS is a potentially debilitating disease, so we need to strive to diagnose and treat it before to help stop or slow the damage,” stated Barry GW Arnason, MD, professor of neurology at the University of Chicago. “We need people to recognize primeval symptoms and comprehend that treatments acquirable this day can help slow the disease activity and help prevent the emergence of symptoms.”
